In the early 90s, I was just a teenager captivated by the emerging world of technology. The internet was still in its infancy, and we navigated it through the slow hum of dial-up connections. Despite the limitations, I saw the potential of the web and took it upon myself to learn HTML coding. Armed with a few books and a relentless curiosity, I dove into the world of web development, teaching myself how to craft simple yet effective websites.
As I transitioned into college, my passion for web development grew even stronger. I began to help build websites for my college, collaborating with other students and faculty to create a digital presence that reflected our vibrant campus life. My dedication and skills did not go unnoticed, and soon I was invited to join various development teams on campus, working on projects that would shape the future of our digital landscape.
After graduating in 2000, I stepped into the professional world just as the internet boom was taking off. I was fortunate enough to be brought onto development teams tasked with launching new websites for a variety of organizations. One of my most notable roles was as the webmaster for the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia headquarters in Richmond, where I learned the ins and outs of website management, design, and user experience.
